“Meditating in a group is very powerful,” says Gabrielle Bernstein, New York Times bestselling author and motivational speaker. “The shared intention of the group elevates each individual. When one or more gather with the intention to heal and grow, great shifts can occur. The group’s collective energy has a massive impact on the world.”
We at Essentials would like to invite and introduce you to the "Essentials of Meditation" conducted and guided by Reiki Master-Teacher Renee Masse held every other Monday from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. We will commence with some deep cleansing breaths to center and connect with self. This establishes a gentle space between yourself and the outer world so you may more readily detach from the exterior noise, and concentrate on the development of the inner and higher self. From there we will move into a guided meditation. Each meditation will be pre-determined and revolve around a specific intention. Your Intention is extremely powerful and is what will gain in strength the more you follow this practice. Intention allows for other goals and objectives to manifest in life. Meditation is also about awareness in the present moment. It is awareness of breath and sensations throughout the body without the measure of judgment. While quietly and gently observing the breath and staying in the present moment you have the ability to detach from thought, the past, and the future. Once your mind starts to wander you can gently bring it back to focus.
Symptoms of stress in our lives are sleep disturbances, tension in the body, anxiety, depression, headaches, fatigue, and the list goes on. By practicing the art of meditation we can become more resilient to these stressors and maintain a presence in the now, therefore having a positive effect on our physical and mental/emotional health.
April 3- Awaken to Mindfulness: Implementing the ancient practice of mindfulness is helpful for reducing anxiety and stress by awakening yourself to the present moment. Learn how to properly breathe into higher levels of consciousness. Watch thoughts drift away like clouds in the sky while exercising quiet observation and awareness without judgment.
April 17- Mountain Meditation: This mindfulness meditation allows you to recognize your own personal power and strength. Allow your imagination to take you a place where you become the mountain. Becoming the mountain allows your awareness to shift to presence, stability, stillness, and resilience.
May 1- Loving-Kindness Meditation: Begin with a loving-kindness (metta) prayer that is for you and extended outward to all sentient beings. Raise your level of consciousness by generating unconditional love, kindness, and compassion, while opening and expanding your heart center. Shift away from ego-based thoughts, while transitioning into peaceful tranquility.
May 15- Lake Meditation: Experience gentle awareness as you embrace this vast body of water that is ever changing, but always supported. As this meditation progresses invite in presence and quiet observation, as you embody the fluidity, comfort, and flow of the cleansing water.
May 29- Angel Healing Meditation: Transcend our physical plane of existence to connect with the angels. Opening your heart to healing, as well as the healing of loved ones, will bring you a deep sense of peace and love as you acquiesce to the divine beings that surround you with their gentle embrace.
